Compelling reasons to replace windows:
the SANCO Energy Simulator

Know what's going on

High interest rates, uncertain conditions – there are many reasons why the energy-efficient renovation of buildings has stalled. However, a complete overhaul isn’t always necessary. Simply replacing your windows can have a far greater impact than most people realise. The new SANCO Energy Simulator can calculate exactly how much energy, money, and CO2 can be saved by replacing windows. This digital tool is designed for insulating glass manufacturers and window installers who want to provide their customers with compelling reasons to invest in window replacement.

Few building products have seen such dramatic improvements in energy efficiency over the past few decades as glass. As a result, many property owners are unaware of the amount of money and CO2 they could save by installing new windows – and how quickly the investment could pay off. For example, if your insulated glass windows date back to the 1990s, replacing them with modern windows featuring coated insulating glass can save so much energy that the cost of the new windows is recouped within just a few years. And after that, the savings really start to add up.

Accurate estimates through a wide range of options
The browser-based SANCO Energy Simulator is a practical tool that helps calculate the specific benefits of window replacement. To provide the most accurate estimate possible, the tool allows users to factor in a variety of details, such as location, building type, window sizes, potential shading, and roof overhangs, in the physical calculations. The age and condition of the existing windows can also be adjusted to reflect the current situation. By inputting details about the heating system, usage rate, and energy prices, the simulator offers a realistic estimate of the energy required for heating, cooling, and lighting for three different glazing options: The first option focuses on winter heat retention. The second option includes summer heat protection, which is becoming increasingly important. The third option is based on the ‘360 Degree Glazing’ concept, where different types of glazing are used on different sides of the building to further optimise energy efficiency. In expert mode, users can also customise the type of glazing. This mode provides detailed infor-mation and editing options for relevant parameters such as U-values or g-values.
