1969 saw the beginning of a community of family-owned companies under the SANCO name. Organized as a franchise group, members were able to ensure dependable supply of semi-finished materials and also to make better use of their market potential than a single small or medium-sized company could do. Back then it was already realized that only a group of a certain size can jointly handle research, development, quality control and advertising to the required extent. This forward-looking realization ensured that the SANCO Group, which now has more than 60 active members, is Europe’s biggest group of insulating glass manufacturers.
The group-internal organization within the company is controlled by SANCO Beratung, based in Ulm. It’s responsible for supporting the member companies in technical matters, it provides specialized training, and it’s the partner to contact for queries about the industry and the presence of the association. It furthermore coordinates inquiries from architects, universities and building authorities with the licensees. It grants material approvals, drafts technical documentation and puts on the annually held General Meeting.
