DIN 18008 – What's new?
At the end of 2024, the revised Parts 3 to 5 of DIN 18008 were published – with some important changes for point-fixed, fall-protection, and walkable glazing. Below is an overview of the most important changes:
Part 3 – Point-fixed glazing:
A new feature is the distinction between disc and countersunk head holders. The requirements for edge distances for drill holes have also been revised. In addition, there are normative specifications for all-glass systems (Appendix F) for the first time.
Part 4 – Fall protection glazing:
The classification of glass balustrades has been regulated in a much clearer and more detailed manner.
Part 5 – Walkable glazing:
Part 5 has been editorially revised and applies to all walkable glazing in normal use.
Conclusion
The new parts of the standard bring together proven regulations and create uniform requirements for safety-relevant glazing. If you have any questions about DIN-compliant glass structures or project-specific solutions, SANCO Consulting will be happy to assist you as usual.
