Maximum Performance with Minimal Weight

Whether for residential, commercial, or industrial projects in Germany and Europe: Today’s modern window solutions must deliver more. The demand is for slim profiles, high energy efficiency, reliable sound insulation, and sustainable materials—all while remaining easy to install. This is exactly where SANCO LIGHT’s thin-glass solutions come into play.

For window manufacturers and insulating glass processors, these innovative glass products offer decisive advantages: low weight, excellent technical performance, and a significant reduction in the carbon footprint. This makes them ideal for both new construction and energy-efficient renovations.

The SANCO LIGHT product family includes two variants:
- SANCO LIGHT 0.5 (0.5 mm glass thickness)
- SANCO LIGHT 2.0 (2.0 mm glass thickness)

Both versions are used as the middle pane in triple-pane insulated glass units. In addition, SANCO LIGHT is also available as laminated safety glass (LSG). When used as the middle pane in the air space between the panes, the thin glass remains optimally protected. In LSG applications, two thin glass panes bonded together by a tear-resistant film provide additional safety and stability.

Optimized for Processing and Installation

A key practical advantage: Depending on their construction, insulated glass units with thin glass are between 17% and 47% lighter than comparable units with standard 4-mm glass.

- Easier handling on the construction site and in production
- Less stress on hardware and frames
- Option for slimmer window profile designs

With maximum dimensions of 150 x 220 cm, SANCO LIGHT covers approximately 75% of typical installation scenarios in renovation projects.

Despite the reduced use of materials, thin-glass insulating units achieve nearly identical performance values as traditional units in the following areas:

- Thermal insulation
- Light transmission
- Energy transmittance
- Sound insulation

Measurable Improvements in Sustainability

By reducing material usage, thin-pane glass actively contributes to climate protection. CO₂ equivalents can be reduced by more than 20% per square meter of insulating glass (based on calculations according to EN 15804+A2). This makes SANCO LIGHT particularly attractive for projects with high sustainability requirements, ESG criteria, and eligibility for subsidies a decisive advantage in the current market environment. Ideal for renovations and window replacements thin glass opens up new possibilities, especially in existing buildings: If existing window frames are intact, existing insulating glass units can simply be replaced with modern thin glass units. This saves time, costs, and resources. For optimal implementation, we recommend consulting with an experienced window manufacturer or a SANCO partner in your area.

For precise planning, SANCO offers:
